Brett Dickinson is a British singer-songwriter born on December 17, 1976 in Cambridge, United Kingdom. He released his first studio album in 1995 and received attention after joining the band Indian Runner and later 9Lines.

Dickinson moved to Brighton at age 17 where he was influenced by many local musicians. His musical career got early support from a dedicated Sussex fan base. After a few releases through the 1990s, Dickinson’s breakthrough came with the release in 1999 of his third album, Superman; this was a critical and commercial success and included his best-known songs, "This Can Be Us” and “I Get Off”.

After leaving the band The Lanes in November 2006, Dickinson moved away from the stage, and started the independent record label and promotions company  Backbeat Records where he worked with artists such as The Kooks, The Crave, Norman Cook and The View. He also managed Scottish band Trent whose album "American God" was well recieved throughout Europe.
